Tideline Prints is a small studio on the Devon coast, which focusses on block printing with found objects.
With sustainability at the heart of her work, Karen Bowskill reimagines waste, to produce modern, hand printed bags and accessories.
She creates simple blocks using marine debris collected from local beaches and prints
bold, repetitive circles in monochrome and neon onto rejected linen sourced from Devon’s tourism industry.
Details and scratches in the prints, describe the surface of the plastic and tell a narrative of its journey to the shore. Whilst candy colours mirror sun bleached fishing buoys, flashes of fluorescent yellow signify our plastic emergency.
Karen combines her printed cottons with worn garments diverted from landfill, as an attractive solution to our problem of textile waste. Leather jackets are disassembled and reconditioned, and original features are highlighted to celebrate repurposing.
Karen studied at Falmouth University prior to completing a BA Hons in Fine Art Printmaking at Loughborough University.
She has exhibited at Craft Festival, MAKE South West, and Thelma Hulbert Gallery.
