Make South West Chooses Their 5 Favourites
Date: 25 May 2023
Hi!
There are just 2 Weeks until Craft Festival rolls into Bovey Tracey.
With over 200 makers and a huge range of activities for the whole family to enjoy, I really can't wait.
Our fantastic friends, Make South West have been an important part of Craft Festival since it was founded in 2004. We'll be celebrating our 20th Anniversary next year and we are planning lots of great things. Flora Pearson, MSW Exhibition Officer, cast her discerning eye across our exhibitors and has chosen 5 lovely favourites.
You can meet all of Flora's choices and 200 more in Bovey Tracey from June 9-11. AND you can also buy your Craft Festival tickets, in-person at Make South West in Bovey Tracey.
Have you booked your workshops yet? You can weave willow, carve a spoon, learn to book bind, carve into stone, print making and more CLICK HERE to book.
Kate Kato
Exquisitely detailed life size paper models arranged into sculptures, collections and installations. Her attention to detail when documenting plants and insects is amazing, and you can see the research that’s gone into the work.
Charlotte Eatock from StartUP
This is really exciting work by a new maker focussing on recycled and discarded materials. I especially like her colourful beach clean and silver zero waste collections; both are really clever, creative ways of using materials, and gorgeous pieces to wear.
Jumping Mouse Goods from StartUP
Outstanding work by this new maker based in Devon, using lovely vegetable tanned leather to produce stylish minimalist bags and accessories. And the great thing about leather is it gets better with use!
Treefall Design
Gorgeous children’s clothes and toys made using lovely soft natural vintage-inspired textiles. I love that her toys are inspired by ‘what woodland animals secretly get up to when we look away’.
Sarah le Breton
Sarah is a brand new Maker Member of MAKE Southwest. A very accomplished maker, whose traditional and super sustainable willow and rush basket work is beautiful. She has been collaborating with our Maker Member Jane Deane to dye parts of her willow baskets with indigo.
